Education goals

MBBS program is aimed at cultivating medical graduates with basic clinical ability, lifelong learning skill, and good professional competence.

Students are required to master basic medical knowledge and scientific methods, and have lifelong learning abilities, corresponding clinical skills and good professional ethics. As a medical practitioner, graduates will be able to work in health care services. With the guidance of superior doctors, graduates can engage in basic medical practice andwithfurther study, will eventually grow into independent practitioners.

The knowledge objectives

(1) Master basic Chinese language. be familiar with China's humanities.

(2) Master the normal structure and function of the human body at various stages of life, and the normal psychological states.

(3) Grasp the pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of various common and frequently-occurring diseases at various stages of life.

(4) Understand the basic characteristics of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the basic principles of diagnosis and treatment of it .

  

The clinical skill objectives

(1) Acquire comprehensive, systematic and correct medical history taking and case analysis capabilities.

(2) Acquire the ability to perform physical and mental examinations systematically and in a standardized manner, and the ability to write medical records.

(3) Cultivate clinical thinking and expression skills.

(4) Acquire the ability to diagnose, differentially diagnose and treat various common diseases and frequently-occurring diseases in internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and pediatrics etc.

(5) Acquire the ability to diagnose, and deal with general emergencies.

(6) Acquire the ability to communicate effectively with patients and their families.

(7) Acquire the ability of independent and lifelong learning.

  

Teaching plan

(1)Biomedical courses

The appropriate amount of biomedical courses are arranged in the course plan to lay a solid foundation for medical students to study clinical courses.

Biomedical courses include systems and regional anatomy, histology and embryology, biochemistry and molecular biology, physiology, pathogenic biology (medical microbiology and human parasitology), medical genetics, medical immunology, pathology pathophysiology and pharmacology. All the courses include the experimental skills training.

(2) Public health courses

The objective is to develop students' prevention strategies and public health awareness and to master the knowledge and skills of group health.

(3) Clinical Medicine Courses

Clinical medicine courses include diagnostics, internal medicine (including infectious diseases, neurology and psychiatry), surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, stomatology, dermatology, rehabilitation medicine, nuclear medicine traditional Chinese medicine. as well as the integrated courses that reflect these clinical medical contents.

(4) The graduation clinical rotation program

48 weeks of clinical rotation are arranged to meet the internship requirements of the source countries and to ensure that students acquiring sufficient clinical experiences and abilities.

  

Admission

  

Program Introduction

According to “ Provisional Regulations on Quality Control Standards of English-Taught Medical Undergraduate Education for International Students in China ”the Ministry of Education of China has approved Southeast University as one of the qualified universities in China to enroll international students in the English-taught undergraduate program of medicine.

To accelerate its step of internationalization, Southeast University will continue to enroll international students in the English-taught undergraduate program of medicine in the fall-semester of 2010. The program aims to cultivate qualified international medical professionals, giving due consideration to the possible needs of them to serve in their motherland or other countries.

After completing the total required credits, students will be conferred diploma by Southeast University and qualified students will receive the Bachelor Degree of Medicine Science (M.B.B.S.). Graduates will have the opportunity to enroll for Physician Qualification Exam according to the relative regulations of the respective country.

Taught in English, the program is open to international students in pursuit of the science and practice of medicine, whose courses are offered by Medical College, SEU.

Other fees:  about 6000RMB-8000RMB/year for one occupancy in a room of two occupancies

Enrollment procedureWe will check all the application documents and consider the qualification of each applicant. The best of the candidates will be enrolled.

Degree conferring: Those who abide by Chinese laws and the regulations of SEU will be conferred bachelor’s degree of medical science by SEU after they have completed all required academic credits and obtain the graduation certificate.
