The blood donation drive, marked the first day of two week-long annual cultural celebration for the year 2014, organized by SEUIMSA, the student organization for foreign medical students. The blood drive was a joint cooperation between the Red Cross society of the university and SEUIMSA.
After weeks of planning, paperwork and official approvals, the Jiangsu blood donation center was invited to send a blood donation bus to the Dingjiaqiao campus, to which they readily agreed. International students began registering through the monitors of their respective classes while a one day registration activity was held for the Chinese students on 8th April.
On 12th April, the Jiangsu blood donation center’s bus arrived at the Dingjiaqiao campus at 9.45 am. After setting up in front of the school canteen, the blood donation activity began. The activity started picking up speed as the hours went by, to the point that many students had to be turned away because the officials from the blood donation center had to go back at 5 pm.
However, it still was a very successful event. The officials told us that 78 students in all participated in the activity of which about 65% were foreign students, but the list obtained from them contained 62 names. Nevertheless, it was a very successful activity, which was worth all the hassles in making it happen.
